Innovative Auto-ID solutions revolutionize rail operations10.09.2024
Local public transport is changing. A lot is happening on the railroad lines, because digitalization is also the keyword in 2024! Maintenance and servicing, day-to-day operations, infrastructure, timetable optimization, passenger information systems and many other processes should not only be better, safer, more cost-effective and more efficient, but also optimally coordinated. The secure and seamless identification and labelling of rails, trains, buildings and components are the basis for the success of the digitalization project.

Oberhaching, September 2024

At this year's InnoTrans from 24.09. - 27.09.2024, the companies FEIG ELECTRONIC, smart-TEC and Wilmsmeier Solutions will be demonstrating together (Hall 2.1 / Stand 245) what modern Auto-ID technology can achieve.

RFID/NFC technology and 2D codes have been in use for over 25 years in a wide range of applications, companies and industries worldwide.

Digitally marked components, rails, switches, machines, trains, wagons and tools can be digitally recorded fully automatically, error-free and in a short time.

Maintenance measures and histories are automatically recorded, documented and clearly assigned to the corresponding components. Entire train configurations are automatically recognized even during the journey and synchronized with the data from axle counting systems.

Wayside monitoring and RFID rail markings enable trains to recognize platforms fully automatically and stop precisely at the right place. The position of trains, trams and subway trains is determined extremely accurately by the vehicle itself. Rail head treatment systems work fully automatically and activate or deactivate themselves at the right sections of track.

Identification of rails and welded joints with AUTO-ID technology directly at the rail base

Using RFID and 2D code marking solutions with a new clip mechanism and integrated barbs, switches, rails and welds in the track bed can be identified safely and easily. A simple hammer blow is all it takes to quickly and easily attach the clamping solution to the rail base.

The clamps offer an exceptionally high holding force, but can also be easily removed again thanks to their special design.

These solutions are extremely robust and can withstand adverse environmental conditions such as extreme cold, heat, mechanical loads and compaction of the ballast bed.

We show you what has proven itself in practice for many years

Live applications will clearly demonstrate what is possible and has proven itself in practice over many years. Of course, innovations will not be neglected: from robust RFID/NFC transponders for mounting in the track bed or on the bogie, wayside monitoring, rail clamps, special transponders for concrete sleepers and the wheel set mark to robust UHF RFID readers for train assembly, everything will be shown live.

25 years of smart-TEC

smart-TEC, the specialist for customized RFID/NFC transponders and Auto-ID technology for over 25 years, will be showcasing solutions and designs specially developed for the railway industry. Optimally tailored to the respective requirements of the railroad industry in terms of mechanical, thermal and chemical resistance, smart-TEC has RFID/NFC transponders for almost every application. Regardless of whether weld seams in the rail network, safety-relevant components in the wagon or the entire wagon needs to be clearly and traceably marked... smart-TEC offers the right solution.

Talk to us: Sample transponders for interested parties are available at the trade fair stand (Hall 2.1/Stand 245)
