We, smart-TEC GmbH & Co KG, are a company of the RATHGEBER Group in Oberhaching near Munich. Our goal is to make objects identifiable and connect them with the digital world. We develop and produce customized RFID/NFC solutions and have been supporting our customers on the path to Industry 4.0 and digitalization for more than 25 years.

In close cooperation with our certified system partners, we offer comprehensive project planning, support and implementation.

What once began as a family business is now a group of companies with around 340 employees at four locations and over 10,000 customers throughout Europe. Our family structure and entrepreneurial independence continue to define what we do with passion: Working closely with you to implement sustainable solutions for identifying and marking your products and objects. Over 25 years of smart-TEC: our success story

1948

On April 15, 1948, RATHGEBER is entered in the company register.

1968

RATHGEBER takes over a former supplier and now also has engravers, toolmakers and jewelry embossers on its staff.

1978

The new company headquarters in Oberhaching is being built just outside Munich.

1999

The modern factory of Industry 4.0 needs synapses and neural pathways - smart-TEC, a RATHGEBER company, is developing the first RFID/NFC solutions.

2005

Klaus Dargahi takes over the operational management of smart-TEC together with Andrea and Andreas Schrägle.

2010

Smart-TEC and the entire RATHGEBER Group have been completely climate-neutral since 2010 - this applies to production, sales and administration, all products and materials. Unavoidable quantities of pollutants are offset.

2010

smart-TEC achieves a breakthrough in the development and production of UHF windshield labels and wins its first major smart-LABEL order.

2014

Tomás Kubíček has represented smart-TEC in the Czech Republic since 2014.

2017

Stefan Scheller takes over the position of Head of Sales in 2017 and continues to lead smart-TEC on the road to success.

2017

smart-TEC expands its UHF RFID portfolio and develops solutions for the railroad industry. Since then, RFID/NFC transponders have been developed and produced for the identification of safety-relevant components.

2018

smart-TEC develops the IDconnect. This software solution connects analog products with the digital world using 2D codes and/or NFC/RFID technology.

2019

smart-TEC becomes a member of the Digital Data Chain Consortium (DDCC). Standards and technologies for the exchange of information are developed jointly.

2021

Major order for digital type plates (metal type plates with RFID/NFC technology) and expansion of production capacities at the Mindelheim (Allgäu) and Bystřice (Czech Republic) sites.

2022

Florian Geith takes over key account for the chemical and process industry. Smart-TEC is thus further strengthening its focus on the chemical industry.

2022

TISAX ensures the protection of data, its integrity and availability in the manufacturing process and guarantees the protection of prototypes and the secure processing of information.

2022

smart-TEC is aware of its responsibility for the environment, society and future generations. For the first time, all sustainable activities are summarized in a sustainability report.

Sebastian Grüttner takes over key account for the rail industry The focus on the rail industry is paying off. Sebastian Grüttner continues to successfully bring RFID/NFC technology to the railways.

2024

25 years of expertise in Auto-ID solutions: Today, smart-TEC consists of employees who implement RFID/NFC projects for customers from a wide range of industries with expertise, passion and commitment.

2024

Redesign of corporate design and identity: smart-TEC and RATHGEBER set new impulses with a new corporate design.
