Fireproof & Smart: GoodPro digitizes firefighter clothing with NFC

When equipping firefighters, the focus is not only on safety, but also on the reliable documentation and tracking of protective clothing. GoodPro, a leading manufacturer of protective clothing for firefighters, was looking for a solution to make the management, maintenance and operational documentation of their protective clothing more efficient and digital.

Smart solution

Together with smart-TEC, GoodPro developed an intelligent clothing solution based on RFID/NFC technology. Firefighters' jackets and pants are fitted with heat and mechanically resistant NFC transponders. These robust tags permanently store important information such as serial number, manufacturer, size and production date and can even withstand temperatures above 180 °C and demanding maintenance processes without any problems.

The tags, which are based on the NFC standard, are integrated into a durable emblem and attached to the outside of clothing - clearly visible and easily accessible. They can be read with any commercially available NFC-enabled smartphone using the specially developed smartPRO RFID Register app.

The digital solution goes far beyond mere identification. Users can record and manage information on the use and maintenance of their clothing at any time via the smartPRO RFID register web application. This data can be shared with superiors or colleagues and also serves as a reliable basis for documentation.
