GS1 Exchange 2026: smart-TEC brings the Digital Product Passport into practice

17.03.2026
smart-TEC shows the implementation in real time

Oberhaching, March 2026

As part of GS1 EXCHANGE 2026, smart-TEC GmbH is presenting pioneering identification solutions that support companies on their way to the Digital Product Passport (DPP). As part of the RATHGEBER Group, smart-TEC develops customized RFID, NFC and 2D marking solutions that make products uniquely identifiable and digitally networked - precisely, sustainably and in accordance with international standards.

The event offers a comprehensive program around the current EU requirements for the Digital Product Passport. High-profile representatives from politics, retail and the consumer goods industry will shed light on the background, requirements and opportunities of the new regulation. Interactive formats such as discussion rounds, workshops and practice-oriented sessions promote professional exchange and invite active participation. In addition, the focus is on networking: GS1 EXCHANGE creates space for dialog between manufacturers, retailers, technology partners and regulators.

Practical insights into the implementation of the DPP

Stefan Scheller, Adriana Ilieva and Sabrina Marx will demonstrate on site how the Digital Product Passport can be put into practice. In live demonstrations, they will present NFC and QR code-based labeling solutions and guide visitors step by step through their application. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience for themselves how a Digital Product Passport can be created and linked to a label in just a few minutes - in a clear, interactive and practical way.

Strategic partnership and versatile solutions

As a long-standing GS1 Solution Partner, smart-TEC consistently aligns its portfolio with the requirements of the GS1 standards and developments relating to the Digital Product Passport. The data carrier solutions offered can be used across all industries: from smart-LABEL applications in the furniture industry and robust labels for the iron and steel industry to NFC/RFID dual-frequency solutions for textiles or brand emblems with DPP-2D-Code Unique Identifier.

All solutions can be individually adapted and personalized. In addition, smart-TEC supports its customers with technical processes for the automated application, individualization and coding of markings. The aim is to provide labeling systems that already meet the current and future requirements of DPP regulations and at the same time offer intralogistical advantages.

A central component of the solution portfolio is the IDconnect software. This enables the linking of labels with a Digital Product Passport and the updating of existing passports - both in advance and retrospectively. The solution provides a cost-effective basis for creating DPP templates and integrating them into the GS1 Digital Link and other DPP-compliant standards. An integrated content management system, resolver and flexible design tools make it possible to adapt, expand or correct content at any time. A simple Digital Product Passport can be created in less than three minutes.

Invitation to exchange

With its presence at GS1 EXCHANGE, smart-TEC is underlining its role as an innovative partner for future-proof labeling solutions and inviting trade visitors to find out about specific applications and the potential of the Digital Product Passport on site.
