With the introduction of the new toll law in July 2024, which provides for mandatory charges for vehicles over 3.5 tons, many transport service providers are facing additional costs. Hermes Einrichtungs Service GmbH is meeting this challenge with an innovative solution: the toll costs of its partner companies will be reimbursed - based on tamper-proof NFC technology from smart-TEC.

The partner companies that transport goods on behalf of Hermes Einrichtungs Service GmbH use different trucks. To ensure that only vehicles subject to tolls are billed, a NFC label from smart-TEC is affixed to the windshield of vehicles subject to tolls whose UID is stored in the vehicle master data. When the RFID/NFC label is removed, the integrated chip is also destroyed by intelligent security features - effectively preventing misuse.

Before setting off, the driver scans the NFC label from the smart-LABEL Windshield range with a mobile computer, which has already been used for some time for the digital recording and documentation of performance data on tour. As a result, the vehicle is uniquely identified and verified by the system based on a master data comparison.

The system offers seamless integration into existing IT infrastructures and ensures transparency and efficiency in internal cost reimbursement. The toll amount incurred for the relevant route is then automatically recorded via an internal billing system and reimbursed to the partner company.Compared to QR codes or barcodes, which are susceptible to tampering, NFC technology offers a significantly higher level of security. Hermes Einrichtungs Service GmbH is therefore not only focusing on transparency, but also on efficient and reliable processing of toll reimbursement for its partner companies.
