On August 26, 2026, the focus in Herzogenbuchsee (CH) will be on the practical implementation of the Digital Product Passport (DPP) in the construction industry.

At the DPP Atelier BAU hosted by GS1 Switzerland, smart-TEC—as an official GS1 Solution Partner—is helping companies make the requirements of the Digital Product Passport tangible and actionable.

The event will focus on regulatory developments surrounding the DPP as well as concrete examples of its application. Starting in 2027, the Digital Product Passport will gradually become relevant for various product groups in the EU, laying the foundation for greater transparency, sustainability, and a circular economy throughout the entire product lifecycle.

Sebastian Grüttner, Key Account Manager and expert on the Digital Product Passport. In his presentation, he uses real-world examples to demonstrate how products can be linked to a Digital Product Passport using appropriate identification and labeling technologies, and what role technologies such as QR codes, RFID, and NFC play in this process.

“The Digital Product Passport is more than just a regulatory requirement. With the right identification solutions, we bridge the gap between the physical product and the digital product data”, explains Sebastian Grüttner.

As a long-standing GS1 Solution Partner, smart-TEC supports companies across various industries in implementing Digital Product Passport projects. The portfolio ranges from customized labeling solutions using RFID, NFC, and 2D codes to digital services and resolver solutions for providing product-related information. The product offering is complemented by beacon technologies for localization and sensor applications.
