GS1 EXCHANGE: Digital Product Passport 2026 in Cologne
17.03.2026Focus on the DPP: smart-TEC presents solutions at the GS1 EXCHANGE: Digital Product Passport 2026 in Cologne

As part of the GS1 Exchange, smart-TEC is presenting innovative marking solutions that support companies on their way to the Digital Product Passport (DPP). As part of the RATHGEBER Group, the company develops customized RFID, NFC and 2D marking solutions that make products identifiable and digitally network them - precisely, sustainably and in accordance with international standards.
The GS1 Exchange also offers a varied program around the new EU requirements for the Digital Product Passport. High-caliber speakers from politics, retail and the consumer goods industry will provide insights into the background, requirements and opportunities of the new regulation. Interactive formats such as discussion rounds, workshops and practical sessions invite participants to actively participate in discussions and contribute their own perspectives. At the same time, the focus is on networking: the event creates space for exchange and discussions between manufacturers, retailers, technology partners and regulators.
Away from theory and towards practice
Stefan Scheller, Adriana Ilieva and Sabrina Marx will be demonstrating how the Digital Product Passport can be implemented in practice. In live demonstrations, they will present NFC and QR code-based labeling solutions and guide visitors step by step through their practical use. Visitors can experience for themselves how a Digital Product Passport can be created together with the team in just a few minutes and linked to a label - in a clear, interactive and practical way.
Partnership with a clear goal
As a long-standing GS1 solution partner, smart-TEC consistently aligns its portfolio with the requirements of the GS1 standards and the developments surrounding the Digital Product Passport. The data carrier solutions on offer can be used across all industries: from smart-LABEL applications for the furniture industry and metallic labels for the iron and steel industry to NFC/RFID dual-frequency solutions for textiles or brand emblems with DPP-2D code unique identifiers.
All solutions can be customized and personalized. In addition, smart-TEC supports its customers with technical processes for the automated application, individualization and coding of markings. The aim is to provide labeling systems that already meet current and future DPP regulatory requirements while offering intralogistics benefits.
Another component of the solution offering is the IDconnect software. It enables labels to be linked to a Digital Product Passport or existing passports to be updated - both in advance and retrospectively. The solution provides a cost-effective basis for the creation of DPP templates and their integration with the GS1 Digital Link and other DPP-compliant standards. An integrated content management system, resolver and flexible design tools allow content to be adapted, expanded or corrected at any time. A simple Digital Product Passport can be created in less than three minutes.
