smart-TEC at the Railway Forum 2025

smart-TEC, Feig Electronic and Wilmsmeier Solutions will be exhibiting together at the Railway Forum, Europe's leading management conference for the rail industry, in Berlin at stand D04. The 9th Railway Forum brings together the entire value chain from Germany and Europe: railroad and network operators, OEMs for rolling stock and infrastructure, suppliers of all tiers and representatives from politics. The content of the trade fair is aligned with the strategic development goals: Policy & Legislation, Digitalization & Automation, Energy Supply & Sustainable Technologies and Value Chains of the Future.

smart-TEC will be presenting its RFID/NFC product portfolio specially developed for the rail industry at the Railway Forum 2025. Together with Feig Electronic and Wilmsmeier Solutions, smart identification solutions will be integrated that are perfectly tailored to the needs and requirements of the rail industry.

RFID/NFC transponders from smart-TEC are developed according to the specific requirements of the railroad industry with regard to mechanical, thermal and chemical resistance. smart-TEC develops and produces RFID/NFC transponders in a wide variety of designs for almost any application in the railroad environment. Whether weld seams in the rail network, safety-relevant components in the wagon or if the entire wagon is to be clearly and traceably identified...smart-TEC offers a suitable solution.

In addition, an illustrative live application will demonstrate which rail processes can be made faster, safer, more traceable and more cost-effective using RFID/NFC technology. Solutions from and for everyday rail operations will be shown. With RFID/NFC and 2D codes, trains, rails, components and tools can be marked automatically, error-free and traceable. This digitally optimizes maintenance, train identification and infrastructure management - even during the journey.

A highlight: New, particularly robust rail clamps enable simple and safe installation of marking solutions directly on the rail base - even in extreme environmental conditions. There's no easier way to achieve a digital twin.

Two further demos will show you how to identify rolling bearings with the Digital Product Passport (DPP). Wagon identification using modern passive Auto-ID technology based on globally valid GS1 standards such as GIAI, SGTIN and Digital Link will also be presented.
