Successful presentation of smart-TEC at the GS1 DPP Atelier

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the GS1 DPP Atelier took place in Zurich, where smart-TEC presented itself excellently as a technology partner. The event attracted numerous trade visitors and offered an in-depth insight into the world of the Digital Product Passport (DPP).

smart-TEC was present as a manufacturer of RFID/NFC tags and the DPP software solution IDconnect, with integrated GS1 Digital Link Resolver. Our IDconnect is a powerful content management system that meets all the requirements for a complete, up-to-date, user-friendly and digitally available product passport. The user-friendly operation of the integrated GS1 Digital Link Resolver and the easy connection of the Digital Product Passport to existing systems were particularly positively highlighted.

+++ IDconnect, the bridge to the digital world: When the 2D code or RFID/NFC tag is read with a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet, IDConnect is automatically opened and all DPP-relevant product data can be entered, added to, read and updated. IDConnect is the software solution for easy implementation of all DPP requirements. +++

In interactive workshops, the participants experienced first-hand how a digital product passport can be implemented step by step with GS1 standards - especially for products from the non-food and near-food sectors. At check-in, all participants received a personalized Dual Frequency Transponder (two different frequency bands - HF & UHF - integrated in one tag) from smart-TEC, pre-coded with a GS1 Digital Link to IDconnect. Together, the participants then created individual Digital Product Passports - a real hands-on experience.

This close cooperation with the three GS1 organizations underlines smart-TEC's commitment to pioneering solutions for standardization, digitalization and traceability along the entire value chain.

Ready for the future of product information

The Digital Product Passport defines how and which product information is recorded, shared and used. As part of the EU initiative for more sustainability and transparency, the DPP will become mandatory for many industries in the coming years. The GS1 DPP Atelier offered an excellent opportunity to familiarize oneself with this pioneering technology at an early stage and to make products fit for the digital future.
